ECU Ice Hockey Club adds to Coaching Staff
The Pirates are proud to announce the addition of Ben Campau as an Assistant Coach. Originally from Reed City, Michigan he played youth hockey in the Big Rapids youth program. After completing high school and a year working with the automotive industry in Grand Rapids, Campau moved to Raleigh in 2007. As a Level 4 certified coach, his game focus is on the defensive side of the game. In addition to helping coach the ECU program, he is in school working on a computer and electric engineering degree and currently works at UPS.
ECU Ice Hockey Club announces Dr. Paul Hinrichs As New Head Coach
Hailing from Philadelphia, PA, Dr. Paul Hinrichs grew up playing hockey as a youth and throughout his High School years. After High School, he earned an Engineering Degree, entered the workforce at age 19, and relocated to upstate NY. Coach Hinrichs moved to the Raleigh area from New Jersey in 1999; and recently earned his Doctorate degree in Business. Hinrichs holds a Master Level 5 USA Hockey Certification, and started coaching in 1997 as a way to give back to the sport he enjoys teaching. Since moving to Raleigh, Hinrichs has been part of the local coaching community on many different levels of coaching.

Hinrichs brings a disciplined approach to coaching, demanding hard work, execution of systems, and commitment. He firmly believes in developing not only the player on the ice, but off the ice as well.
Coach Hinrichs reside in Raleigh with his wife Erin, their two son’s Philip and Christian, and their golden retriever Gabby
